SoMa Neighborhood Gems:
Montesacro Pinseria

August 1, 2017

Between Market and Mission on 6th, there’s Montesacro, a charming Italian restaurant serving Roman-style pizza known as “pinsa”. Small, yet cozy, with century old ovens and a wine list of 80, you’ll want to take some of it home. And you can, Montesacro includes a retail program with cheeses (25 varieties), cured meats (about 15 choices) and olive oil. All of Montesacro’s approximately 80 wines are also available for retail purchase at 33% of the list price.

But back to the (delicious) pinsa! The pinsas all come in one size which would be a small at most places; some might say a whole pizza is shareable but after one bite, most won’t want to share.  The toppings at Montesacro really make this a special place. The Torpignattara, for example, features olive oil crushed potatoes, string beans, pesto and pine-nuts–a must-try and a favorite.

And if it’s Netflix night and you’d like Montesacro delivered to your door, no problem. They’ve partnered with Caviar and will soon be available through Uber Eats.

You can also connect with Montesacro on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram. Fair warning, if you’re hungry, you may not want to look at their photos.
