Winter Wonderland at Civic Center

The Civic Center and UN Plaza is the place to be

Locals living and working within the area have noticed increased activity in the Civic Center neighborhood recently. Dreamforce/Dreamfest and Fleet Week both attracted thousands to the city and there are many upcoming plans for the holiday season. Considering the beautiful architecture of city hall and surrounding buildings like the Asian Art Museum, it is evident the location will be perfect to host events. Recently, city officials have made a point of maintaining a family friendly environment around the Civic Center. Two beautiful and brand-new playgrounds now occupied by laughing and playing children were constructed in front of city hall. Additionally, the grass area has been painted with lines and fitted with goals for kids and adults to play soccer and other games.

Because of this spike in activity, many vendors and food trucks have ventured to the neighborhood to sell their home-cooked offerings. While walking through the plaza, it was almost impossible to resist the aroma of cheese and bacon covered pretzels wafting through the city streets.  Each week the “Heart of the City Farmer’s Market”  attracts locals and tourist alike to enjoy the good eats

Luckily, this is just the beginning of the action at city hall as the Winter Park at Civic Center will be open to the public on November 30th – January 6th. With a 6,000 square foot ice rink, a skating track, and a lighted tree forest, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Every day from noon until 10pm, visitors can skate and buy treats from vendors at the winter wonderland in the center of the city.

Outdoor holiday ice rinks are popular in many cities including San Francisco, and the Civic Center will likely become a destination for tourists to visit as well.  However, this winter park will be particularly targeted towards locals living within the city. Residents calling one of the three gorgeous towers at Trinity Place home, are just a brief stroll from the park. Some can even see the action straight out their window. Located just off Market Street, the Civic Center neighborhood is filled with professionals looking for fun at the end of a long day. Trinity offers the perfect opportunity for both the long-term San Francisco resident, as well as the corporate traveler looking for a brief stay at a luxurious but affordable property.
