5 Ways to Cool Off During San Francisco’s Heat Wave

Maggie Bach September 1, 2022

Hot weather is in the forecast for San Francisco this Labor Day weekend. Summer is in full force and it’s time to get creative with activities. Whether it’s leisurely strolling through a museum or catching the premiere of a new movie, SF has plenty of options to beat the heat. For those who are embracing the sunshine, don’t forget the sunscreen! Here are 5 ways to cool off and simmer down.

If you’re looking to get out of the house and still want to hang indoors, the Metreon is the place for you. #NationalCinemaDay is on Saturday, 9/3 and the AMC Metreon 16 is offering movie tickets for only $3! Relax in the air conditioning and enjoy a new film. Ice cream on a hot day feels like sunshine after the rain. Uji Time at the Metreon has Japanese taiyaki soft cream, the first in the Bay Area. Enjoy a wide selection of flavors from matcha to black sesame to ube soft cream in a crispy taiyaki cone. The Metreon is a short walk away from Trinity Place so our residents can enjoy this huge shopping center at their convenience.

2. People Watch at Dolores Park

Spending the day at Dolores Park on a sunny day has always been a fun time. Grab a blanket, lay in the shade, and people watch. Try to spot and name all the dog breeds you’ll see! Host a picnic out with your friends, sip on some beers, and relish in the stunning skyline of SF. Whatever the activity, a day at Dolores park is consistently a great time. A stone’s throw away from our apartments at 230 and 240 Dolores St, our residents get to enjoy this incredible park all year round.

There’s nothing like eating something cold on a hot day. Pineapples on Ocean Avenue brings a taste of Aloha to SF with their Hawaiian shave ice and Dole pineapple soft serve. Choose from tropical flavors like lilikoi and guava and make it feel like you’re on vacation in Hawaii. Don’t forget about the Dole whip, if you love pineapple we promise you won’t want to miss out.

5. Cool Off at Ocean Beach

A 5-minute drive from our Anza Street Apartments, Ocean Beach is a wonderful place to walk along the water and have a chill afternoon out in the sun. A popular place for flying kites, take one out and get a rich dose of vitamin D. If you’re hungry, grab poke or fish tacos from Hook Fish Co and enjoy a bite while watching surfers out in the water.
