Should I Live in North Beach?

Jeff Howard December 14, 2021

San Francisco is known as a city with many unique and exciting neighborhoods, but North Beach may stand out as one of the most iconic sections of SF. Positioned in the northeast corner of The City, closest to the famed Alcatraz Island, North Beach encompasses Pier 39, Coit Tower, Washington Square, and many popular bars and restaurants. Let’s uncover five reasons why you should absolutely live in this marquee district of San Francisco today!

Delicious Food

North Beach offers some of the best restaurants in a city filled with great ones, so that’s certainly saying something! The area surrounding Washington Square is filled with delicious pizzerias, with Tony’s being the most well-known. However, you can find an array of trattorias, seafood, gelato, and other Italian eats throughout the neighborhood. North Beach also borders San Francisco’s historic Chinatown, where you can venture down Columbus Avenue to enjoy the world-renowned House of Nanking and other authentic eateries!

It’s no coincidence that North Beach is one of the most esteemed places in San Francisco. With easy access to the water and many piers, you’ll be able to walk, run, bike, or swim in the many recreational areas open to all. A waterfront dinner or drink is just a quick stroll away, and you can even easily catch a nearby ferry to Marin or the East Bay. Looking to get downtown quickly? North Beach is located only about one mile from the Financial District, and you can make the scenic walk or choose to catch a cable car!

Exciting Nightlife

If you’re looking to catch a show, grab some drinks, or have an all-around fun night in The City, a trip to North Beach should be at the top of your list. Well-known venues such as Cobb’s Comedy Club and Bimbo’s 365 Club are fully reopened with a plethora of great spots nearby for your pre and post-game festivities! Additionally, a trip to the many nightclubs on Broadway is sure to provide a night of excitement and great times for anyone 21+.
